Summer Productions… Parent Days… Shakespeare Week… and more!

NEWS FROM THE PRINCIPAL,
Helen Walls

Nikki, Simon, Lydia and Emily have LOVED teaching our students this term!  Our primary pupils have had BEDLAM AT BEDTIME; a hilarious mime to music and Lower Primary loved being animals who were running their own zoo.  Upper Primary have been practicing their skills at a SKI RESORT, created their own TV show and have been working hard at their Verbal Dynamics: an extended poem with lots of actions and acting thrown in.  Our Youth Theatre students became extremely funny cavemen and women, have been creating News Reports and have studied and performed extracts from the play ANIMAL FARM by George Orwell.   I have managed to attend a few lessons with my baby, so I know how much fun everyone is having.
After our Parent Days this term (during the week beginning 12th March), we will be participating once again in National Shakespeare Week (week beginning 19th March).  We will be studying, and improvising around the play THE TEMPEST.  The play begins with a storm at sea and a terrifying shipwreck.   There will be lots of opportunity for dramatic embellishments there!  Students are welcome to dress up for this lesson.
Now we are starting to plan ahead for the Summer Term.  As many of you will already know, the Summer Term is our PRODUCTION TERM!  We will be looking for students who are COMMITTED to rehearsing each week, developing strong characters to cast in our shows.  Commitment is a very important quality to have as an actor.  Our fellow cast members rely on us as we work as an ensemble team, and if each link in the chain is strong, we know that our performance will be AMAZING!

Kind regards, Helen.
